Oh, and as for Osama's body...
We invaded Afganistan to squelch Al-qaida. It did the job. And we're still looking for Osama. For some reason, he's not wanting to be found, has almost unlimited resources, and little or no beauracracy to deal with. Dang. We'll get him, never fear.
Oh, refresh my memory: has he coordinated another massive, highly successfully terrorist strike inside the US? Hm.... No. Wow, Bush must be doing something right.
I'm going to try to stay calm and explain peacefully how your defense of Bush is forgetting some very important things...
Bush promised to get Osama bin Laden.
Bush said over and over and over that he would capture Osama bin Laden. He said they were using bombs. He said they were using troops. Where is Osama now?
Yes, he is hiding. But why haven't we killed him yet? Is it because he's too smart for us?
That was one of the main reasons to invade Afghanistan. We didn't finish the job, so we go off and attack another country?
Bush decided to hand over the job of finding Osama to the newly-trained, newbie troops in Afghanistan. Osama will never be found if we don't do it.
The way to get rid of terrorists is not through war.
Going over to a country, say, Iraq, and invading it (in the process killing 2,000 of your men and 100,000 innocent civilians) is not the way to eliminate terrorists. The way to eliminate terrorists is by
1. Diplomacy. You must talk to the leaders of many nations to come together and force the terrorists out of the country.
2. Local law enforcement. Through the police and military forces of combined countries the terrorists will not be allowed in any country, thus ridding them of a safe haven.
3. Strong defenses at home. That includes keeping your troops in one place, not spread out around the globe.
Because we have invaded Iraq, our control of the country is failing, and terrorists have now saturated the place.
Osama doesn't have to plan another terrorist attack because he has already succeded in his mission!
People think that Osama is going to plan another attack. The truth is, he doesn't have to, because he got exactly what he wanted.
First, he killed Americans. That's only one way he succeded though.
Second, he was able to get rid of Iraq in the process. We know that Iraq and Osama bin Laden were not friends. They were actually enemies. Thus, in attacking the USA, Osama bin Laden knew that we would attack Iraq, because Bush had been talking about doing that before 9-11 ever happened.
Osama thought..."hmm...if I attack the USA, Bush will use it as an excuse to invade Iraq, thus getting rid of my enemy, and I get to kill Americans in the process!"
Al-Qaeda knew that Iraq would be a great foothold if they could infest the place. But Saddam wouldn't let them in, because the dictator himself feared them, knowing that they were a threat. Thus, by getting rid of Saddam and his iron hand, USA just gave Osama another thing he wanted!
Third, he got the whole world to hate us...even more countries than hated us before. A bunch of countries have always hated us. But now pretty much every country hates us. We broke alliances when invading Iraq, ticked off all the Muslims in the eastern world by attacking them, and now we look like bloodthirsty westerners, which is exactly what we are. Now, Osama has a third benefit of the strike on us: he has shown the world our true colors and it really annoys the other people.
So, Osama doesn't need to plan another terrorist attack. He's already succeded for years to come.
My guess is the man will plan an attack about 15 years from now...that's when the Bush Administration predicts we'll be ready to leave Iraq. |
